We’re Fifteen Cornwall’s True Believer

We’ve won Fifteen Cornwall’s True Believer Award for the second time, which was handed over by Jamie Oliver at their apprentice graduation ceremony at Truro Cathedral.

At the event, Jame Oliver’s sixth cohort of apprentice chefs celebrated their achievements alongside the hard work and support offered by their produce suppliers and partner organisations.

In 2010, we won our first award for the high quality service and produce supplied to the Fifteen Cornwall restaurant. This year’s award, presented on behalf of the Cornwall Foundation of Promise, was for the training programme we provide every year for the Fifteen Cornwall apprentices.

The programme consists of a Newlyn Harbour visit to view the various working fishing boats that land local catches, and a Newlyn Market visit to witness the fish auctioning process and how various species are graded and boxed. In the afternoon, students take a tour of our factory in St Ives and are given expert fish preparation tuition by members of our staff.

The programme helps participants understand the whole fish procuring and preparation process. They’re taught skills that enable them to work more intelligently with fish and how to properly identify, handle, prepare and store a wide variety of species.

We’re thrilled to receive this award from the Cornwall Foundation of Promise and to be considered a hard working member of the Fifteen Cornwall team!
