Day Boat Croply

Day Boats

The day boats which go sea fishing from the numerous coves in Cornwall use traditional fishing methods, so their fishing boats catch sustainable seafood and the finest quality fresh fish – that’s why we use them.

Looe Harbour

Situated on the south-east Cornish coast, Looe fish market is the second largest in Cornwall with day boats usually operating for less than 24 hours due to tides. From the market we buy a variety of fish including Lemon Sole and Squid.

St Ives Bay

From our factory window we watch Mackerel boats come to shore including, the SS10, owned by Matthew Stevens’s Grandson, Matthew Spencer-Smith. His fellow fishermen catch line caught Mackerel, Grey Mullet, Lobsters and Wild Bass.

Cadgwith Cove

Situated on the Lizard Peninsula, Cadgwith appeared on BBC2’s The Fisherman’s Apprentice with Monty Halls. Our fisherman here, Danny Phillips, lands Red Mullet, Monkfish, Ray and Spider Crab, amongst other species.

Penberth Cove

In the far west of Cornwall to the south of Lands End, Penberth is one of the smallest working fishing coves in Cornwall. Fresh fish often captured by fishermen on this part of the coastline include Pollack, Wild Bass and Lobsters.

Mevagissey Harbour

On the Cornish southern riviera, Mevagissey is a fishing village with harbours housing approximately 50 working fishing boats. The hand line caught Pollack and Wild Bass we source from the day boats here are of supreme quality.

Fowey Port

Located on the south coast between Looe and Mevagissey, Fowey is a busy commercial sea port and home to our superb crab fisherman, Peter Matthews, who catches Brown Crabs and Lobsters using his potting boat.

Sennen Cove Harbour

Not far from Lands End, Sennen Cove Harbour supports a small fleet of commercial fishing boats. From here we source hand line caught Squid and Wild Bass and some terrific day boat Pollack, Mackerel and Brown Crabs.

Gillan Harbour

Situated at the mouth of a tidal creek off the Helford River on the Lizard Peninsula our fisherman covers the Falmouth Bay area here catching Dover Sole, Plaice, Lemon Sole, Monkfish, Brill, Turbot and Red Mullet using traditional methods.
